how true that is ..i guess that's why everyone is so unique, coz they're made up of many others' personality, temperament, thoughts, words, actions, the list could go on and on...

how many of us really listen when others speak? i'm a good listener, but somehow i, too, often get drifted away when somebody talks to me. especially when the message conveyed is lack of 'juiciness' (read: juicy gossips.. ;p) heh. often, if the discussion is not about juicy gossip (atau yang sewaktu dengannya) i will easily not listen. does that make sense? well, it does to me. so, my mind will wander off thinking what i'll do when i get home, what i'll have for lunch, what i dreamt last night, etc. and everything will end up a big blur i can only see my nose or i'd be blank terus..

on the other hand, people are more inclined to listen when they are not supposed to listen, like the gossips for example. you are not supposed to listen. but, your attention span goes strong than ever. you can remember right down to the smallest details. every expression, every remark, every sound. but when it comes to the thing that you must know not because you want to know, but because you have to, it becomes a task. a task just to listen. and i need effort to complete a task.. my brain hurts.. :D.. just kidding.

anyway, this came to me when i was listening to a discussion between two people about some work-related matters. they had the same opinion, but, they sounded like having an argument just because they didn't listen. when you don't listen, you'll miss a point or two. so, when you miss a few points, you are completely off track. so, even though you have the same opinion as the others, since you were so into you and your opinion, you miss out on what the others have to say, hence an argument. back to the story, me being a listener, felt like jumping into the discussion, just to make them see that they were on the same boat, but, no.. those who know me will know that i prefer to just sit there, do what i do best, be a listener. ;)

by the way, i wasn't eavesdropping ok. in fact, i was one of the participants of the discussion. hmm...was i a participant? more of an observer, i think. (isn't it pathetic that you tend to listen more when you are not supposed to be listening? i wasn't supposed to only listen, but also participate in the discussion too.. )
