I'm still alive

Somehow I feel like I've used the above title for previous post.  Since I have the tendency to not post anything for a long period of time but, who cares.

Well since July 2009, a lot of things have happened.  I've started my MBA and now I'm in my second semester. On top of that, I'm doing it full-time now. I did my first semester on a part-time basis, but apparently it wasn't for me.  To those people who can do it on a part-time basis and able to get good results, I salute you.  I decided to do it full-time because I felt like I didn't really learn a lot when I had to work. I admit that most of the time, the assignments and projects that were handed in were done to just meet the requirements. I just felt that it wasn't right. This is my second degree, why did I have to repeat my first degree experience? I really want to learn and add value to myself. Knowledge is a form of leverage. How then can I leverage from it, if I didn't really get what I'm supposed to know by end of my studies? Kinda pointless, and wasting my time, don't you think so?

So after talking to my parents about it, they are supportive of me going to full-time study mode. I guess I can use the extra time to go back and visit them more often, now that my little sister has gotten married.  I can also use the extra time that I have now to expand, expand, expand my makeup business, which I have been neglecting for the past, hmmmm, 1 year or so.

Therefore, my friend, if you do need any makeup services, do call me up. I have also been busy looking for interesting makeup projects to do and further build my portfolio. Ideas or suggestions or enquiries are very much welcome. Your support is much appreciated.

keretaku buat hal

sebenarnya, i think it's about time dia buat hal pun.. because all these while, it's been such a good car to me.. biasa la.. pompuan... tau isi minyak, jalan je... kalau rajin pun antar service sekali sekala.. yes, sekali-sekala aje.. ikut sedap oren je..

tau-tau bila dah jadi camni, baru tau menyesal that i know so little (or nothing) about car engine.. seb baik ade ude :D... so right now my car is in the workshop..

so nak cerita pasal mekanik tu.. when i sent the car, i remember him saying that whatever it is, he'll check the car, and will inform us (me & ude) of what went wrong, how much it costs, etc. before doing anything.. all of a sudden he called today and said dah start beli barang la, trade in ape lah (obviously i didn't know what he was referring to) and the whole works will cost me rm2xxx.. what? i said WHAT??!! so i asked him to call ude.. ude pun ape lagi, dah la tengah bagi lecture.. he had to stop the lecture to give lecture (aka 'sekolah'kan) the mechanic.. ya lah.. janji tak buat ape2, just see what's wrong and inform us of the cost before doing anything.. tup2 dah beli barang and nak buat je terus.. pastu ckp i dah cakap OK.. bile mase.. kalo i cakap OK, takkan la i asked him to call ude.. sungguh la bijaksana...

so skarang nih, ude kata, if it's gonna cost me that much, might as well lah change to new engine (!) aka pimp my ride.. har har har.. lepas ni i jadi fast & furious di jalan raya lah nampak nye.. cepat la dapat kereta balik.. the car that's on loan to me now, sound system sangat tak syok.. kena dengar iPod sendiri sebab speaker pecah... :(

helpdesk work no more? not quite...

I used to work in HelpDesk 'Management'. For 'IT' solutions. It sucked. No other word could describe it. So I left the job with the hope that I would never again do the damn thing.

But I was so wrong.

I still have to do it. Not at work. Somehow it fell from the sky and bestowed upon me by the universe.

I'll be starting my postgraduate degree in a week and about a couple of weeks before I received a notification email saying that I'm now in the new batch mailing list. So as a normal notification email of a mailing list, it would outline what to do if you want to post something, which email to reply to, where you can configure the setting, etc. The usual stuff.

And then all of a sudden, people started to reply.

"Please add me."

"Hi, my email is xxxx. Please add me."

"Kindly include me in the mailing list."

Hello. You are already in the list, if not, why would you receive the notification? Don't you read? And there are a couple of emails saying that they don't get the offer letter, when's the registration, yada yada yada.

So, I couldn't help it. Because it was annoying. And I replied. Part of my reply as follows:

I think some of us are confused because of the mailing list email that we all received earlier today. Just in case that you are not aware, the email was informing us that we are all already in the mailing list. So, there's absolutely no need to reply and request to have your email to be in the mailing list. Because we all are in it.

As for the registration information, you can visit xxxx for further details. Choose the intake, key in your I/C number and you can access and print your offer letter and registration document yourself.

Seriously, a walk down memory lane.

I don't understand why some people just refuse to read. And these people are going to do masters? Be my classmates? HMMMMMM... I just don't see why some people received the same email that I received, printed the same letter that I printed, but still have questions - stupid questions. Questions that I can answer.

And then, there was this one person, emailed me and asked me about the welcoming ceremony, briefing session and accommodation.. So much for my community service and now I'm unpaid helpdesk officer for the institute of postgraduate studies. I actually had to reply and tell that person that I'm also a new student, not an officer..

KL start-up camp


i attended a barcamp for entrepreneurs on 22 nov 2008.. it was held at plug and play centre, at the gardens... it was an eye-opener, considering i've never attended one before.. it was a very informal event (they call it unconference.. or something like that) and more like a sharing session among budding and established entrepreneurs.. it had three channels, namely, social entrepreneurship, general entrepreneurship and technopreneurship.. so as a participant, you got to vote with your feet - you may leave if you feel that you don't get anything from the session that you're in.. since they had 3 concurrent sessions, it provided the freedom and variety for the participants.. it was really an inspiration to see the young entrepreneurs succeeding in their chosen fields... i aspire that i will be able to do the same soon :)

midnight bloom



i went back to my parents house last weekend.. to celebrate the arrival of ramadhan and to my surprise the bakawali flowers were in bloom! the day i got home, there were 6 of them, but i missed it.. since i went to bed quite early.. but the next night, right before i went back to KL, 3 of them started to bloom...

the thing about bakawali flowers is, they only bloom once and always at night.. they open their petals fully at midnight... they start to bloom at around 9-ish.. after they fully bloomed, the will stay that way for about a couple of hours before starting to wilt.. by the time the sun rises, there's no more trace of the midnight beauty left..

today is the day that i feel kind of sad..

...but no time to feel sad! if it's not for me, i know something better will come along. till then, i'll wait and keep myself busy.. =



and something not to feel sad for... it's my dearest husna's birthday!! and she's 6 now.. i used to babysit her when i just graduated.. for about 5 months before i started working... now she's gotten so big... aaww...

last week, my friends and i..

.. jalan-jalan di kota singa.. had a great time with loly, mate and baby haris.. went to orchard road, bugis street, little india and the singapore zoo.. we also managed to get lost finding our way back to the hotel - just once.. thanks for the trip, loly.. really enjoyed it!! i love you so much!!



i'm really gonna miss you and haris.. :(

detox ke?

i never thought that i would do it... but its my 9th day already.. the whole duration is 21 days.. so another 12 days to go huh... why did i do it?? it all started when su planned to start detoxing 1st of june (which is on sunday).. for easy counting.. on monday she told me that she was on detox (still is).. and i decided to do it to.. it's easy to do it if you have a buddy to do it... so that you motivate each other to consume allowed food only.. you can share your menu as well... then, came tuesday, nad was in the office and wanted to join in the detox team as well.. so now, here we are, detoxing like a champion!! (bak kata su)

among the stuff that we can eat are:
-green vegetables
-eggs
-fish
-white meat, i.e. chicken, turkey
-honey
-banana
-oat
-kekacang
-soy
-olive oil

the following items are no-no:
-anything fried
-red meat
-seafood except fish
-sugar
-wheat (means no cakes, bread, and the likes!!!)
-dairy products
-caffein
-chocolates
-this may come as a surprise but.. fruits

actually both lists are longer... but those are mainly what i eat (and cannot eat anymore!) these days...

ok ok... 12 days to go...

you can do it, pip!

it was my birthday.. or birthweek??

my birthday was on wednesday, october 3rd.. especially it's fasting month, i didn't expect anything.. i mean, anything at all.. except maybe dinner with mate, since she told me about it a week earlier..

so at the office, business was as usual.. i had a meeting set with my boss and colleague at around 12 noon.. totally wasn't expecting anything, since my boss' acting was very convincing - she asked me to call my colleague, reminding her to join the meeting since my boss couldn't send out email from her pc.. and then she got me went and borrowed an LCD projector for the meeting (which wasn't utilised at all).. and then she got me smsed my colleague since she was not at the office at the time the meeting was supposed to start..

so when all 3 of us were there, suddenly i saw somebody at the meeting room door.. there were quite a few of them.. and then they came into the room.. apparently one of them was holding a cake! what? a cake in the afternoon in the middle of fasting month? it must have showed on my face.. since one of the girls asked me why did i look so blur? then it dawned to me - oh, it's a birthday cake!

not only was there a birthday cake, there was also a short game, where everyone pulled out the pink ribbons from the cake and got this cute charm with our initials on it! oh, and it was not only for me, but also for the other october girls, naddy and hanna..

oh, i have to mention this, the cake is called the most beautiful orange cake in the world.. and it was heavenly.. thanks su, for baking this cake! loved it!

later that night, after class, mate treated me with a big dinner.. yumm... what class u ask? it's for me to know and for you not to find out.. at least not yet.. hehehe


the next day, it was salsa class as usual.. then, suddenly i saw jacques and zai, who are not from my class.. maybe they were going to cabana afterwards.. but then again, towards end of class, there was this sassy lady holding this yummy cheese cake with candles on it.. another surprise for me and kelly (she celebrated her birthday on friday the week before).. thanks a lot jayers.. that was a sweet surprise indeed..

on friday i had to go to terengganu for work.. and was back only on sunday morning.. so loly had booked me for a buka puasa date.. i said yes, thinking that a date would consist of not more than 2 people? or maybe a double date of loly and ifwan, and then me with cute boy haris.. but when i got there at 730pm, i saw bai and dila.. hmmm.. so it was not an intimate date after all.. then loly, ifwan and haris showed up.. followed by rasz and mate... all my gorgeous bebehs in the house!! i was soooo happy and excited to see them..

but.. that was not the end of the surprise.. wait till you see the cake! i LOVE it very much...!!




just in case you can't see the cake, here it is.. it's the replica of my dancing shoes that some stoopid people stole a couple of months before..

so, i'd like to take this chance to thank all the wonderful people in my life for the celebrations, sms-es, email, calls, im-s, blog post, friendster comments, facebook gifts, shoutout, and what not.. and uncountable number of sheeps being thrown at me.. hehe.. thank you from the bottom of my heart.. i'm glad to have you people around me.. and thank you for letting me be a part of your life..
